Isn't it about time that Councillor Gill Mitchell gave up on her criticism of the present administration of Brighton and Hove City Council (Letters, August 30)?
When Labour was “supposedly” running the council it did enough damage. Now that it is no longer in the driving seat, as one senior Labour person once said: “The pips are squeaking.”

I am writing regarding the recent criticism that has been levelled against Councillor Gill Mitchell.
Firstly, any problems I have raised with Coun Mitchell have always been dealt with in a prompt and competent manner.
She also attends tenant association meetings. Her concerns are for residents, the environment, transport and other issues affecting the people of Brighton and Hove. As leader of the opposition group on the council, it is incumbent on her to do so. In my opinion, local Conservatives are seeking to undermine her reputation. They realise that Coun Mitchell enjoys widespread support in the East Brighton ward. This is likely to continue. Finally, I would like to state that I am not a member of any political party. My views are based on personal experience.
