It is not clear who has carpeted Jubilee Square with artificial turf and deckchairs. I presume it is some kind of sick joke, to give a glimpse of what could have been because the square will soon revert to its former concrete, seatless self.
Those wishing to sit on a chair under a bit of greenery will again have to pay for the privilege in an overpriced café or restaurant.
Perhaps the developer who illegally destroyed the ancient oaks opposite Preston Park recently could be forced to plant some real trees and grass and give us all somewhere to sit outside the library. Also, could Pizza Express please give the library its café space back so less well-off library–using families like mine could afford a drink.
