A woman had to be resuscitated after her vehicle was involved in a four-car smash.
Two other people were released from their vehicles before West Sussex Fire and rescue Service reached the Steyning bypass, between the cement works and flyover, at 5.50pm yesterday.
The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance.
At 6.56pm fire crews attended a three-car crash on the A27 in Shoreham, near the Sussex pad pub.
Three people were released from their cars by fire and ambulance crews and two people were taken to hospital by ambulance.
