As a Brighton cabbie with more than 36 years’ experience, I would like to answer the points raised by two correspondents (Letters, November 25).

The reason we stop at the bus stop in front of Marks & Spencer is that M&S customers telephone us and request that we collect them from the front of the store. We don’t use the back of Brighton Station because customers come out of the front of the station seeking a cab.

It would be completely senseless for us to sit where there is no call for cabs.

As to the use of “mob tactics to flout the law”, this appears to be the only way to draw attention to the ridiculous situation we find ourselves in at Brighton Station, a situation we have been forced to live with for far too long.
