Environment Agency staff were keeping a close watch on the River Arun near Pulborough this afternoon. A spokeswoman said part of the river's drainage system had overflowed causing flooding on part of the A29. Moveable flood defences were being brought into the area to protect a nearby electricity sub-station and pumps were being used to clear the flood water away. She added:“There may also be the risk of some flooding to gardens nearby until about 4pm.”
