Ian Hunt is wrong to criticise David Cameron about party politics and the Baby P case (Letters, December 11).

Who is responsible? The area concerned has a Labour council, a Labour MP and we have a Labour Government.

Political correctness is a result of trendy left-wing influence which has built up since the 1960s. Fear of offending multicultural feelings means police and social services have difficulty probing honour killings, forced marriages and crimes involving minorities. Some neighbourhoods refuse to co-operate with the authorities.

The benefit culture is responsible for a lot of negative attitudes in our society.

Yes, we must have a safety net for people who fall on bad times. I consider myself working class. I hate unemployment.

But we appear now to have a benefit class. People who think state payments are a right. Sadly many of these regard children as a means to procure state handouts and housing. Idleness is one of the biggest causes of crime.

Yes, Harold Shipman and Christopher Foster were common murderers, but I do not remember any attempts by the Tories or any other party to defend them.
