I’m quite surprised your publication is encouraging outdoor Christmas lights with its “send us your picture of your lights” feature.

Government and green groups are trying to get the message across that we need to reduce CO2 emissions not make it worse with these offensive displays of energy waste. If people must do this, why can’t they use low-energy LED displays that use about 90% less electricity.

It’s hardly in the Christmas spirit to say: “Here you are, planet. Here’s my present to you. A few more tons of CO2 gases just so I can show off to my neighbours.”
