A motorcyclist had to be freed from under a car after a rush hour pile-up.

Three cars and a motorcycle were involved in the collision on the A270 at the Holmbush roundabout in Shoreham at about 5.45pm.

Firefighters from Shoreham and Worthing were called to the scene and used airbags to free the woman motorcyclist from under the wreckage of a Honda Jazz.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Rush hour drivers faced lengthy delays and where diverted from the A27 along Kingston Lane.

The A27 was reopened just after 7pm.
