Woolworths stores across Sussex closed for the last time on Saturday.
Shops in Bognor,Haywards Heath, Hove, Littlehampton, Rustington, Uckfield and East Grinstead were among about 200 of the first branches in the UK to shut.
Two stores in Brighton and others in Crowborough, Seaford and Shoreham will stop trading tomorrow (Tuesday) as part of the next phase of 200 closures.
About 27,000 staff across the UK will lose their jobs.
Adminstrators were called in by the 99-year-old chain last month amid debts of £385million.
Each store has a display in its window showing how many days are left.
Chichester, Crawley, Hastings, Lancing, Newhaven and Portslade are to close on January 2.
Bexhill, Lewes, Rye and Worthing will be among the final 200 to close, on January 5.
It is expected some stores in prime High Street locations will be reopened by other retailers who have expressed an interest in buying the leases.
