Plans to demolish six detached houses to make way for a new old people’s home are on track to be approved.

The scheme will see family homes in Carden Avenue and London Road in Brighton replaced by 80 sheltered suites.

An earlier proposal was rejected by planners earlier this year but has now been redrafted and resubmitted.

The bid has been widely condemned by neighbours and politicians.

But planners are recommending the Sunrise Senior Living bid is now approved.

Brighton and Hove City Council’s planning committee will meet to discuss the proposal on January 14.
