A supermarket giant has bought out a rival store in a shopping street where traders have seen sales plummeting.
Morrisons has purchased Somerfield in St James's Street, Brighton, from the Cooperative Group.
Staff have been briefed and those working at the store will join Morrisons.
There are only a handful of Morrisons stores in Sussex with branches in Bognor, Seaford and Hastings. The move comes just days after nearby gay clothing store Clone Zone closed, following restaurants The Saint and Love's, which appeared on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares show.
