Albion came from behind in a close fought contest to beat Hartlepool 2-1, in which the new boys shone.

Impressive home debuts from Jarrett, Carole and Andrews insured a first home league win in nearly three months.

Brighton had a great start but it was the away team that scored first, in front of a very poor away support.

On 19 minutes a cross in from the by-line found Nelson who rifled into the net. At half-time the crowd started to get on Adams’ back a bit but they were soon made to eat there moaning words.

We started the second half well but after ten minutes Birchall was withdrawn and replaced by Carole. The crowd were not happy and thought that Cox should have gone off, but why play Carole on the left if he is right footed?

Also, Birchall is still not 100% match fit so it was best he did go off. The substitution paid off and the moaners were wrong again. A crossfield ball from Cox found Carole who volleyed back to Forster who had an easy tap-in.

Cox made way for Mcleod. Another brilliant substitution, he ran down to byline in the 90th minute, pulled it back and Andrew headed the ball in, the Palace loannee scoring on his debut. On a closer look, this was a definite own goal but we will let him have it for now.

So a great three points and nice to hear cheers at the end of the game and not boos, also people singing "SEAGULLS" walking out of the ground when usually it is moans.

We have signed some decent players on deadline day, with the capture of Davies from Oldham, and McNulty from Stockport. This along with Andrew, Jarrett, Birchall and Carole means we will stay up this season and get to Wembley. As for next season, a few more additions in the summer and we can push for promotion.

Sullivan 8: Some outstanding saves, Kuipers is going to struggle getting back in the side.

Virgo 7: Solid but downside are too many long balls.

Elphick 7: Solid as well but needs to stop hoofing it up field.

Hinshelwood 7: Getting back to his best.

Livermore 4: Looked weak at left back.

Birchall 6: Will be a good player when fit.

El-Abd 7: Strong, best I've seen him play in midfield.

Jarrett. 8 Quality, you can see the difference for Championship and League One with him.

Cox 7: Looking better, still low on confidence in front of goal.

Forster 7: Worked hard as always.

Andrews 9: MOM What we've been looking for a big forward who can win headers.

Carole: Still a class act and skilful. Mcleod 7: Great cross, looked OK
