Skilled dogs are replacing Brighton and Hove Albion players at Withdean on Saturday.
The South East Regional Police Dog Trials is putting the pooches through their paces in tests of crowd control, obedience and agility.
Dogs from Sussex, Surrey, Kent and British Transport Police are going head-to-head for a chance to compete in the national finals next month.
Inspector Di Lewis, from the Sussex Police Dogs Unit, said: “I hope as many people as possible take the opportunity to come along to what looks set to be an exciting and action-packed day.
“The dogs and their handlers work hard throughout the year, so it’s a great opportunity for them to showcase all that hard work and skill to the public.”
The event is taking place from 9am to 5pm. Admission is free.
