I would like to comment on the article regarding emptying dog bins (The Argus, March 16).
It occurs to me that some of the costings are rather confusing.
It is unclear if some of these are per unit/per collection/per week/per year. Using the figures as best I could it would seem that the annual cost per bin could be between £100 and £150 a year.
This brings me on to a suggestion I would like to propose.
Local companies sponsor many roundabouts in the Worthing area.
Why could this not be extended to dog bins? The list of possible sponsors is quite extensive: Local vets, boarding kennels, pet shops, dog walking companies.
The bins would prove to be a good advertisement for these businesses and mark them as good citizens.
I would suggest this would help councils to maintain facilities at no increase in the council taxes.
