Danny Brown's first goal for Eastbourne Borough has given them the half-time lead against leaders Burton Albion.
Brown rose unmarked to head powerfully home a Matt Crabb corner from the left after 25 minutes.
It came as a shock for Burton who had looked the most likely scorers until then with Aaron Webster sending a shot wide from 25 yards and Lee Hook rushing off his line to block a shot from Darren Stride.
Hook was also alert to deny Lee Morris from close range two minutes before the break while Burton's veteran stopper Kevin Poole showed he still has great reflexes by turning away a fierce 20-yard drive from Matt Crabb which came through a crowded penalty area.
Jack Jeffery also headed over from a Matt Crabb cross as Borough grew in confidence after taking the lead.
