Mayflies, stag beetles and mantids are all set to perform for your pleasure in this alternative circus at Fletch.
A team of ten performers have put together a creative alternative to the traditional animal-led circus, meaning that instead of taming lions Captain Courage will be entering a cage of giant wasps and Talullah will be charming an earthworm rather than a snake.
It also adds a certain frisson to other traditional acts, as the circus knife thrower will be pinning back a butterfly’s wings.
Introducing the large-size ants, ladybirds and performers, taking part in 12 different acts combining traditional circus skills and physical theatre, will be ringmaster Sir Ronald McPeak.
- Not Wednesdays. Various times, tickets £10/£7. Visit www.fletchatstandrews.com for more info and theargus.co.uk/festival to see a video of The Insect Circus in performance.
