Students are getting the opportunity to experience real-life work experience after a college set up its own travel agency.
City College Brighton and Hove has teamed up with Hays Travel to set up City Travel, which offers short breaks, low-cost flights, package holidays, cheap luxury cruises, long-haul flights and tailor-made getaways.
As well as giving students work placements, all profits made through educational trips booked through the agency are reinvested in the college.
Rebecca Walker, a student who worked at City Travel, said: “It has been a great experience. I really enjoy serving customers and helping them with enquiries, and it has made me feel more confident about having the skills to work in the travel industry once I’ve finished my course.”
Kevin Green, City College’s travel and tourism team leader, said: “City Travel provides our students with the opportunity to fine tune their skills and expertise under the close supervision of a highly experienced travel executive. It’s also providing an excellent service to staff, students and the general public.”
