Two men broke into a woman's home in Horsham and held her captive this morning.
The raid at Burton Close, Copnall Way, took place at about 7.30am.
The woman, reported to be in her late 50s, is understood to have been held captive for up to an hour.
Neighbours raised the alarm and the woman was treated at her home by paramedics.
Detective Inspector Pierre Serra said: "It is very early on in an investigation, and we do not yet know what property has been stolen.
"Currently there is an officer guarding the lady's home, to maintain evidence.
"So far, we are looking to identify two white men, said to be in their early thirties, who gained entry to the property."
The first man is described as about 6ft tall.
The second was shorter, about 5ft 7in, with shaved hair.
