Noticed anything different as you walk down St. James's Street in Kemp Town?
The traders on the street have been busy planting up the areas underneath the existing elm trees with fatsia plants.
Fatsia (or false castor oil plant) was chosen because it is particularly suited to road side conditions as they are pollution tolerant, plus they happen to look particularly striking in their own right.
The main drive behind this planting have been the guys at "Planted", florists on St.James's St, also assisted by "Greenwoods" another florist located on the same street. Already several plots along the street boast these new fatsia plants which will give year round colour and really enhance the area.
Anyone interested in "adopting" a plot should drop in to either of the florists and they will be more than keen to help out.
As one local resident commented: "These small changes can only add character to where we live, and cannot wait till later in the summer for the full effect". Couldn't agree more!
