A 40-YEAR-OLD camper van has been transformed into a venue for a play about Polish immigrants.

Emigrants will be performed by Wiczy Theatre, from Poland, more than 30 years after it was written by Slawomir Mrozek.

Relocating the play from the stage to an old Mercedes camper van means only 11 people at a time can experience the cramped and tense life of Polish Euro émigrés.

Joanna Scheuring- Wielgus, manager of Wiczy Theatre, said: “We have adapted our approach to the drama by Mrozek by pasting it into the current situation of Poland entering the EU.

“It looks at what has changed since then and who are the emigrants of the new century.”

Emigrants is directed by Romuald Wicza Pokojski.

It will run at Brighton Unitarian Church in New Road, Brighton, until Wednesday.

Tickets cost £10 and are available at the festival box office in New Road, Brighton, by calling 01273 709709 or at www.brightonfestivalfringe.org.uk
