Well, we are a few days in now and it's been going really well.

Currently sitting in the flat that I am sharing with Mantryx (New York aerialists that are performing as part of And The Devil May Drag You Under - the rather strange occurrences of living with cabaret performers needs a blog of it's own!

Yesterday I came in to find lasso practice in the kitchen). Really enjoying the late start to the day!

And also enjoying a really needed cup of tea. Finding time to eat and drink is really hard during festivals and I was having tea withdrawal symptoms for the first few days.

Gradually things are getting less hectic at St Andrew's because we are all getting a grip of the things that need doing and establishing a routine.

It's actually really fantastic to be working in the church. It's the most incredible space and there have been loads of loud exclamations of “wow, pews!” as audience members walk in.

Most people are great – we have been giving out coasters (yep, coasters!) for drinks, and people have been using them, albeit with a little amusement especially at the music gigs.

A lot of people seem a little confused that there isn't a bar in the venue though, and you have to explain nicely that there normally isn't a bar in a church. There is a font, pews, an alter and stain glass windows though!

David Devant and His Spirit wife was perhaps one of the best things this week, as they led the audience down the central aisle of the church, still playing acoustically and singing, and out into the street to do their encore over the road at the Iron Duke. One of the most gentle, lovely and lyrical street invasions ever I think!

It was really amusing to watch the audience piling out; some singing at the top of their lungs, others a little embarrassed to be singing in front of us. Definitely be one they won't forget...there is something about seeing a man standing on a bar singing and getting the audience to make different percussive sounds that sticks with you!

More tea I think...
