MATCH DRAWN: Sussex 169-5 (50) That was the last over. Handshakes all round with Nash 85 not out and Hodd 21. They batted for 26 overs to effectively save the game. That's it for today. A full report will be on the cricket home page later and I will be back tomorrow for online coverage of the FP Trophy game against Surrey, starting at 12 noon.

Sussex 164-5 (45) Got that wrong. Claydon to continue. Nash is 81 and Hodd 20. Sussex 153-5 Expect this will be the last over. Will Smith is bowling it. Nash (71) and Hodd (19) have batted for 25 overs to hold the fort. Great effort by these two.

Sussex 147-5 (44) Durham's last throw of the dice you suspect as Harmison comes back for a third spell. Nash 70 and Hodd 18, they have batted together for 20 overs now.

Sussex 142-5 (41) We're into the last hour now so we could go on until 6.16pm. Minimum of 15 overs remaining after this one. Blackwell has turned a couple to keep that close cordon interested and Thorp has come back for another spell up the hill. Nash is 65 and Hodd 18. Real case for playing Hodd tomorrow against Surrey as the batsman in form. Talking of Surrey, they set Middlsex 186 in 24 overs at the Oval and Middlesex are 93-1 off 10.3 with Phillip Hughes 55 not out!

Sussex 123-5 (34) Nash 59, Hodd 7. Blackwell has turned a couple but it's very slow spin. Smith has dispensed with his two men on the drive and brought in a second slip. 22 overs to go.

Sussex 115-5 (30) Just one over of trundle from Thorp as Durham turn to spin in the shape of Ian Blackwell bowling his left-arm from the CR end. Short leg, slip, silly point and two men on the drive either side of the pitch about 12 yards from the bat. Durham on the attack. Nash 55, Hodd 4.

Sussex 113-5 (28) Thorp back in place of Harmison. Nash 59, Hodd 5 and Sussex in defensive mode now. 27 overs to go after this one.

Sussex 107-5 (25) Nash to 50 with a tuck off his legs for two off Harmison. 80 balls and 9 fours. Hodd is yet to get off the mark.

WICKET: Sussex 105-5 (23.3) Wright goes for 4. He got off the mark with a lovely cover driven four but has now driven hard at a ball outside off stump and edged low and hard to slip where Muchall took a stinger. Poor shot in the circumstances that. Two wickets in 15 balls since tea and Sussex are in a spot of trouble here. Nash is 49. Of the runs so far, 72 have been scored in boundaries.

Sussex 101-4 (23) Harmison back for another spell down the slope but Nash drove his second ball up the hill for four. Now onto 49 with Wright yet to get off the mark. If Durham could get another wicket or two now they would fancy their chances. Congratulations to Brighton RFC who have beaten Liskeard-Looe 32-20 today in the final of the EDF Senior Vase at Twickenham. Sussex rugby on the map at last.

WICKET: Sussex 92-4 (21.1) First ball after tea and RHB carves it straight to point where Benkenstein does the rest. A wicket for Plunkett and just the start Durham wanted. Had thoughts of a 4.50pm finish here at tea, not so sure now. Nash is 43 and with him now is Luke Wright.

TEA: Sussex 92-3 (21) Goodwin went for 21 three overs before tea, lbw to Claydon. Ball kept a touch low but no doubt he was aht. Nash is 43 and Rory Hamilton-Brown 12. Sussex still scoring at more than four an over but 225 from 35 is a tall order and you suspect if they lose another wicket they will shut up shop.

Sussex 64-2 (16) Change at the Cromwell Road end as Mitch Claydon replaces Harmison. Nash is 33 and Goodwin 15.

Sussex 52-2 (13) Attacking fields means there are runs to be had when the ball beats the infield and Nash has just brought up the 50 with a lovely punched drive past point for four. First change now as Plunkett comes on at the sea end for Thorp. Nash 24, Goodwin 12.

Sussex 34-2 (10) Nash onto 14 and Goodwin on 4. Harmison still beating the bat at least once an over but anything off line is going to be punished because this is still a good pitch to bat on.

Sussex 21-2 (7.2) Nash off the mark with a lovely straight drive up the slope off Harmy. Durham employing four slips and a gully but Goodwin has just nicked a single to mid off to get off his pair.

WICKET: Sussex 16-2 (5.1) Game on here. Joyce has just had his off stump ripped out by Thorp, just seemed to play down the wrong line. Joyce couldn't quite believe it. Must have swung back into him. Nash still to score, Murray Goodwin arrives on a pair.

WICKET: Sussex 13-1 (3) Unlucky 13 for Yardy. His third scoring shot was also a boundary, a top edge off Harmison but next ball he drove hard outside off stump and sliced a low catch to Liam Plunkett in the gully. Nash yet to score, Ed Joyce with him.

Sussex 9-0 (1) Don't know if it's a sign of Sussex intent, but Yardy clipped Steve Harmison's first legal delivery after a first ball no-ball for four, survived a leg before appeal off the next and edged the third through the slips for another boundary. Yardy 8, Nash about to face Calum Thorp from the sea end. Interesting press release from the ECB. Ravi Bopara has requested to play for Essex tomorrow and been told it's okay but none of the other England players are allowed to play. What about Collingwood and KP, don't they need some time in the middle? Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that the England coach used to play for Essex. Any thoughts out there?

DURHAM 299-4 declared (95) They didn't need too many more. Declaration has come to leave Sussex a target of 317 in 56 overs. Muchall finished on 106 and Blackwell 39. Ironic applause as the batsmen walked back. Mind you, the Hove crowd used to do that when Chris Adams was faced with some tricky last-day declarations and sometimes eered on the side of caution. How Yardy would love to be in that position.

Durham 297-4 (95) Muchall gets his 100, his first since April 2006. He got there with a six off Nash down the ground. His ton came off 187 balls with ten fours included. He is 105 and Blackwell is 39 and the lead now is 314. Can't thing Durham need too many more.

Durham 265-4 (88) Back after lunch. Steve Garrett, who is on the first-class list, has replaced flu victim Nigel Cowley as one of the umps. Expect he will be standing again in the FPT game against Surrey tomorrow. Rayner bowled first over after the break at the CR end and it's Chris Nash now at the sea end with his offies. Muchall 90, Blackwell 21.

LUNCH: Durham 261-4 (87) 97 runs in 30 overs this morning and Durham luncheon with a lead of 287. There are 66 overs remaining so I expect them to have a dart for maybe 10 overs after lunch to get the lead to around 320 and then give themselves 55 overs at Sussex. Muchall is 89, having added 37 runs in the second hour after scoring just one in the first. Blackwell on 21.

Durham 258-4 (85) Spin at both ends now with Hamilton-Brown into his second over from the sea end. Muchall has just driven him down the ground for a rare boundary and is onto 87 and Blackwell on 21. Lead now 275.

WICKET: Durham 211-4 (74.2) Good bowling change that. Benkenstein cuts hard at Wright's second ball and sub fielder Carl Hopkinson makes a difficult catch look relatively easy at backward point. He made 7. Muchall still 60 and the new gladiator is Ian Blackwell.

Durham 210-3 (74) Change of bowling. Collymore takes a blow after bowling five overs for 16 and is replaced at the sea end by Luke Wright. Muchall onto 60 and Benkenstein 7.

Durham 201-3 (68) Durham's quest for quick runs in the first hour has faltered. They have only scored 33 thanks to some excellent seam bowling by RMJ and Collymore. Muchall is virtually strokeless, one run in an hour. Benkenstein onto five with a square drive off Collymore in the last over which brought up Durham's 200.

WICKET: Sussex 197-3 (67.5) Success for RMJ as Di Venuto goes for 103, thin edge to the keeper as he pushes at an outswinger. He faced 211 balls and hit 12 fours and has done virtually all of the scoring this morning. Muchall, at the other end, went runless for 50 minutes before nudging a single to move to 52. Dale Benkenstein in with him now. Deserved success for Martin-Jenkins that as he bowled well yesterday without reward. It's Diva's first hundred against his former county.

Good morning and welcome to a sunny Hove for the fourth and final day of Sussex's Championship game against Durham. Hard to see a home win unless Sussex's depleted attack, minus the injured Damien Wright, can take early wickets.

Durham are 181 ahead with eight second-innings wickets in hand with Michael Di Venuto 75 and Gordon Muchall 51. We have 96 overs remaining today.

Yasir Arafat has arrived and goes straight into the Sussex squad for tomorrow's FP Trophy game against Surrey Brown Caps, here at Hove with a 12 noon start.

The squad for tomorrow is: Aga, Yasir Arafat, Beer, Brown, Collymore, Gatting, Goodwin, Hamilton-Brown, Hodd, Hopkinson, Joyce, Kirtley, Martin-Jenkins, Nash, Rayner, L. Wright and Yardy (captain).

Remember you can leave a comment on the cricket here or if there is anything you want me to find out relating to Sussex then feel free to do so.

Play gets underway here at 11am and it's sunny and fairly warm. Which is nice.
