A nurse struck off for filming undercover at a Brighton hospital is to appeal against the decision.
Margaret Haywood, 58, was struck off by the Nursing and Midwifery Council after being found guilty of misconduct for filming at the Royal Sussex Hospital for a BBC Panorama programme.
Since then, Ms Haywood has received a flood of support from politicians, journalists and members of the public.
This afternoon, the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) confirmed appeal papers were being lodged at the High Court seeking a judicial review of the council’s decision.
Ms Haywood’s undercover filming exposed neglect of elderly patients. The panel said she put the interests of the filmmakers ahead of her patients, but Ms Haywood disagreed, saying she had been treated harshly.
