SUSSEX 162 all out Keegan is last man out for 38, playing on to Afzaal as he looked to launch him into the bleachers again. He ended up top-scoring so not a bad debut all in all. Collymore was 4 not out but Surrey were winners by 79 runs.

That's it from me for today. Back on duty on Saturday in the FP quarter-final wherever it is. Check the site tomorrow evening for details of the draw.

Sussex 135-9 (28) Since the departures of Gatting and Nash it has been a pretty unimpressive batting display against Sussex. No one seemed capable of playing Schofield with a straight bat as Hopkinson, Hamilton-Brown and Arafat all perished to the leggie whose 5-32 was his second one-day five-for. Hodd was beaten for pace by Meaker - good ball that - but Brown, who batted so well yesterday, and Beer have also succumbed to spin of the part-time variety. Keegan is doing okay though and has just plonked Afzaal over the ropes three times in four balls to move to 38.

WICKET: Sussex 80-4 (15) Schofield's running through 'em! Hopkinson tries to sweep a full ball and is bowled neck and crop for two. New batsman is Andy Hodd on 9 with another ex-Ovalite RHB on 2.

WICKET: Sussex 74-3 (13) Gatting goes for 37. Once again he looked good and then got out. toe-ending a sweep off Schofield and giving Grant Elliott a comfy catch on the backward square boundary. Surrey were 69-1 at this stage of their innings then Ramprakash went into overdrive. Hopkinson 1, Rory Hamilton-Brown 5.

WICKET: Sussex 58-2 (11.3) Spoke too soon. Nash misses an attempted sweep at Schofield and is leg before for 26. Looked pretty straight to me. Carl Hopkinson in now with Gatting, who is 31.

Sussex 56-1 (10) Sharks up with the required rate thanks to some sensible batting by Nash and Gatting, who are picking up the singles and putting away the bad balls. Double change of bowling now as Chris Schofield replaces Nel and Stuart Meaker, who gets it through, comes on for Collins.

WICKET: Sussex 5-1 (2) Blow for Sussex as Joyce goes for a duck. Andre Nel may have surprised him there with extra bounce but Joyce tucked it off his hips straight to Stuart Meaker at square leg. Joe Gatting off the mark with a lovely square drive for four off Pedro Collins and Chris Nash is 1 not out.

SURREY 241-7 (39) Three wickets in five balls at the end prevented Surrey from getting to 250. Two of them went to Keegan in his final over as Elliott was caught by a sprawling Nash at backward point as he aimed to long on but hit it high on the bat. Two balls later Collymore took a superb catch on the run after Chris Schofield top-edged a paddle sweep. Then off the first ball of the last over Arafat's slower ball was driven to wide mid on where Nash took another steepler. Keegan finished with 2-53 from seven overs so the jury is still out on him. Arafat the pick of the attack with 2-45 from eight.

WICKET: Surrey 200-4 (34) Ramprakash is out for 102, his 17th one-day hundred and third in the FPT this season. Sussex didn't look as if they could bowl him out so hats off to Nash at cover whose accurate throw beat his desperate dive after he was called through for a very tight single by his partner. He fit 50 of those runs in boundaries - 5 fours and 5 sixes. Sussex must be glad they don't have to face him in the Championship this season. Keegan's back for a second spell but has already been hit for two fours in this over by Spriegel which cost 13. Five overs left.

WICKET: Surrey 171-3 (30) Another masterclass from Ramps but at least Sussex have ended a punishing third-wicket stand of 89 in 12 overs with Afzaal who has just driven Collymore's slower ball to long on for 33. Ramprakash is 91 having hit his third six in Arafat's first over back, when Surrey called their batting powerplay, over long on. He is closing in on his 17th one-day hundred. Matt Spriegel the new batsman.

WICKET: Surrey 82-2 (18) Spin does the trick as Beer gets Brown with a neat return catch off a leading edge for 33. Stand of 75 for the second wicket in 15 overs. New batsman is Usman Afzaal.

You have to applaud Surrey's initiative in getting all these kids in today. Apparently 100 schools were invited across 17 boroughs and it seems most of them have turned up.

Hopefully someone from Sussex is here today and can introduce such a scheme at Hove. Some of the home games have been poorly attended and while the scheduling hasn't helped this season the atmosphere hasn't been great. All the kids get a free ticket for a Pro40 with the idea of bringing their parents along.

Surrey 80-1 (17) Chad had four overs and a couple of half-trackers were twatted into the May stand for six by Ramprakash so he's off with 4-0-28-0 to his name. Collymore had two more overs at the Vauxhall end but it's spin now at both ends. Joyce, who is in charge, has brought on yesterday's hero Chris Nash and now Will Beer at the pavilion end. Brown 34, Ramprakash 31.

Surrey 23-1 (8) Here comes Chad for his first over. There have probably been times in the last couple of years when he wondered if he'd ever play county cricket again.

Surreal atmosphere here today. Around 3,000 youngsters have been given free admission and they are making plenty of noise. Some of the curmudgeons in the press box don't like it. They prefer to watch the game in funereal silence but Surrey's initiative should be applauded.

Keegan's second ball was clattered through the covers by Brown and Hodd got a great cheer for his headling dive into the boards as he tried to prevent a boundary. Brown 16, Ramprakash 2.

Surrey 14-1 (6.1) Yasir Arafat struck in his second over when he got one to swing in late towards Scott Newman's pads and he went for four. Then it tipped it down and we are re-starting at 1pm. It is now a 39 overs match and Sussex's target will be Duckworth-Lewis adjusted.

Mark Ramprakash is 2* and Michael Brown 7* as they walk out to start again.

Good afternoon everyone and welcome (belatedly) to our online coverage of Sussex's FP Trophy tie against Surrey Brown Caps here at the Brit Oval.

As expected, Sussex have rung the changes having qualified for the quarter-finals with yesterday's win over Yorkshire Phoenix.

Skipper Mike Yardy, Murray Goodwin, James Kirtley and Robin Martin-Jenkins have all been rested.

In come Carl Hopkinson, Andrew Hodd - as a batsman only - Corey Collymore and Chad Keegan.

For Keegan, 29, it's his first competitive game for nearly two years.

The former Middlesex seamer has had injury problems throughout his career but he has always been a good bowler. In List A cricket he has taken 133 wickets at under 24 runs apiece.

He was released by Middlesex at the end of 2007 but is apparently keen to give it one more go. He bowled well for the seconds last week and gets his chance today.

Not quite sure how that leaves guys like Aga and Liddle, who are already on the staff, but that's a question for Mark Robinson later on.

The teams today are - Surrey: Newman, Brown, Ramprakash, Afzaal, Spriegel, Elliott, Wilson, Schofield, Nel, Meaker, Collins.

Sussex: Joyce, Gatting, Nash, Hopkinson, Hodd, Hamilton-Brown, Arafat, Brown, Beer, Keegan, Collymore.

Sussex won the toss and put Surrey in.
