SUSSEX WIN BY EIGHT WICKETS

Sussex 128-2 (17.1)Smith finishes off the job in emphatic style with a six off Billy Taylor. He made 31 not out and Chris Nash was unbeaten on 55. Catch us again on Sunday when Sussex take on Kent at Canterbury from 3pm.

Sussex 110-2(16) The fat lady is warming up at Hove. Nash has his 50 and Smith is starting to cut loose too. It shouldn't be long now.

Sussex 94-2(14) Just 29 more runs required from six overs. Nash is on 45 and deserves a half century for steering the chase so well while Smkith is 14.

Sussex 77-2(12) Chris Nash biffs Riazuddin for four to move on to 35 and victory is looking pretty straightforward. Hang on didn't we say that last night?

Sussex 62-2(10)Wright's reprieve did not last long as he is unlucky to pick out Michael Carberry with a reverse sweep. Dwayne Smith is in now so the run rate might take off.

Sussex 52-1(8) Luke Wright gets a let off as he is dropped by Riazuddin. Wrighjt has 27 and Nash 21 and these two are guiding Sussex nicely towards their target.

Sussex 40-1(6) Good over that last one for Sussex as Wright hits consecutive boundaries off Riazuddin.

Sussex 27-4(4) Sussex moving along nicely with fours from Nash and Wright in the last two overs. Just ahead of the asking rate at the moment but the key is to keep wickets in hand.

Sussex 11-1 (2) Hamza Riazuddin did for Sussex at the Rose Bowl on Monday and he's made an impact here already by bowling Joe Gatting leg stump after the former Albion striker had swatted him for four.

Sussex 6-0(1)Middlesex's tactic of opening with spinner Liam Dawson goes well until Chris Nash hits the fifth ball straight down the ground for four.

Hampshire 122-7(20) Fine effort in the field by Sussex. They restricted Hawks to just eight boundaries all innings and must be favourites to knock off the runs at a rate of just over six. That is unless they make a hash of the run chase like they did last night!

Hampshire 114-7 (19)Kirtley holds on to a skier from Mascarenhas off his own bowling at the second attempt. Pothas hits Hampshire's first boundary for four overs with a clever shot.

Hampshire 108-6(18) Hawks still unable to cut loose and they'll probably be happy to make 130 now. No boundaries from those last two overs from Kirtley and Arafat.

Hampshire 95-6(16)Dwayne Smith has got the golden touch. Surprisingly brought into the attack by Yardy he traps Dawson lbw first ball for 23 and then gets rid of Carberry for 36 too. Sharks will be glad to break that partnership of 43. New man in is Mascarenhas so there could be some fireworks now.

Hampshire 86-4(14)Hawks just starting to step things up a bit now thanks to Carberry and Dawson. Their partnership is worth 36 now with Carberry on 35 and Dawson 17. Beer finished with 0-28 and Yardy excellent figures of 1-22.

Hampshire 69-4(12)Liam Dawson hits Hampshire's first boundary for nine overs to relieve some of the pressure on the Hawks. IT gives the visitors their best over for a long time with ten coming from it.

Hampshire 53-4 (10)Hawks in real trouble at the halfway stage. Chris Benham goes in that over for 11 as he holes out to Smith at long off to give Yardy his first wicket.

Hampshire 43-3(8) Hampshire are going to have to start to take some risks. Just two from that over from Yardy and the last five have only gone for 18.

Hampshire 41-3(7) Tight stuff from Beer too as he concedes just five. Spin at both ends with Yardy coming on.

Hampshire 36-3(6)Some sloppy fielding from Smith (yes, Smith) and Hamilton-Brown gifts Hawks three runs but it's still a good over from Arafat. Now Sussex turn to spin with Will Beer.

Hampshire 30-3(5)Hampshire are really finding runs hard to come by. Just three from that over from Luke Wright.

Hampshire 27-3 (4)Ben Brown sprouts wings to take a flying catch behind the stumps and that's the back of Jimmy Adams for 8. James Kirtley did the business and conceded just two from that over.

Hampshire 25-2(3)Dwayne Smith does it again. After two run outs yesterday he's already in action with a direct hit to dismiss Sean Ervine who had tried to steal a single. Jimmy Adams and Michael Carberry in now and both hit boundaries in that last over from Wright which went for 12.

Hampshire 13-1(2)Michael Lumb pulls Arafat for six but the Pakistan fast bowler gets his revenge next ball by bowling him middle stump. Good start by the Sharks.

Hampshire 5-0 (1)Good opening over from Luke Wright who is keen to go out on a winning note before joining up with England. Just one boundary from Michael Lumb. Now it's Arafat from the sea end.

Good evening. The sun is beating down here at Hove but there are clouds already forming over Sussex's Twenty20 Cup hopes.

That could all change tonight though if they bounce back from defeat against Essex last night to gain revenge on Hampshire who thrashed them in the opening game on Monday.

Sussex have lost the toss and will be chasing after Hampshire unsurprisingly elected to bat first.

The Sharks have stuck with the same side which threw away a winning position against Essex with Murray Goodwin not recovering from a toe infection. The man to miss out again is Robin Martin-Jenkins.

Sharks: Nash, Gatting, Wright, Joyce, Smith, Yardy, Hamilton-Brown, Arafat, Brown, Kirtley, Beer.

Hawks: Adams, Lumb, Ervine, Carberry, Benham, Dawson, Pothas, Mascarenhas, Riazuddin, Tahir, Taylor.
