It may be a common belief that missing street name signs are a result of recent vandalism but I have looked at many sites of missing signs in the city and by looking at the surroundings and the way they have aged the great majority of signs have been missing for a very long time.

If I said a street name sign was worth £1 million that might seem silly but if the sign has been missing for up to a generation at an important site the cost of its absence is a very large sum.

Street-name sign main- tenance gives us an economic boost, helps prevent climate change as well as air pollution and removes a sense of dilapidation.
