The kite surfer who died after suffering critical injuries following an accident on Lancing seafront last month has been named as Worthing man Mark Sharples.
Mr Sharples, 49, was kite surfing off Brighton Road when strong winds caused him to collide with rocks, causing life threatening injuries, at 1.30pm on Friday, August 28.
He was given first aid by an off-duty A&E doctor at the scene and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by air ambulance.
He was later transferred to the Hurstwood Park neurological centre in Haywards Heath, where he died on Saturday, September 5.
