Gordon Brown bade farewell to Brighton this afternoon, saying: “I think the choice is now clear for the British people. We have set out the choice, and have had a very successful week in doing so. It’s for the British people to make up their mind.”
Labour has already made its choice about Brighton. The party has announced it is not coming back to the city for an autumn conference until at least 2015, opting instead for the dubious pleasures of Manchester, Liverpool and Bournemouth. Mr Brown can only hope Brighton and Hove’s voters do not reciprocate the snub when it comes to next year’s general election.
