So a while a go I announced that I'd be looking for a band to become the first band to record at my new studio, AudioBeach Studios, in Hove.
Well, this is it. We're building the studio as of next week so I thought it appropriate to announce the "competition".
The prerequisites, before you enter yourself or your band, are as follows:
-
NO existing studio-quality demo has been recorded
- I want this competition to be open to those who may not have had the chance to record in a studio before.
-
NO clone bands
- I don't want a carbon-copy of The Kooks or Arctic Monkeys coming through at this stage
-
NO attitudes
- Don't get upset because you sound exactly like The Kooks and you can't enter
That's it. That's all I'm asking. But what am I looking for?
An original band with their own sound and own songs. I'm not looking for covers bands or a band who think they can "be the next" whoever... I want a band who thinks they can be the FIRST of THEMSELVES. That said, you can't be stuck up about it because that doesn't work in the music industry...
If you feel that's you, your band, or your mates' band, please email me info[at]forbescoleman.com with your details, your sound, influences, biography and any records you have (remember, no studio demos. Bedroom demos or recorded rehearsals are the kind of thing I'm looking for).
What will you win? Two full days recording at AudioBeach Studios in Hove (three tracks maximum), Online Production from me through the FC Music Project (more details here), and a fully mastered RedBook Master Disc for duplication and distribution.
It's all worth about £700 so certainly not to be sniffed at.
Closing date is 27th November 2009. Winner announced on the 30th November 2009 and the recording must take place 21st December 2009.
Good luck, everyone.
