TELEVISION presenter Harry Gration found himself with a busload of trouble on his hands in the form of a pantomime dame, a giant mouse and a troop of Spartan soldiers.
Harry was in York yesterday to join the city’s legendary dame, Berwick Kaler, to shoot a film which will form part of this year’s Theatre Royal pantomime, Humpty Dumpty.
As the cast had already begun rehearsals for the show they wasted little time in cracking on with the all-important film sequence, that has now become a staple scene in every York Theatre Royal pantomime.
Harry said: “I was on a bus full of Spartan soldiers and a Barbie doll – played by Berwick – and a mouse.
“I was a conductor and I had to expel Berwick from the bus because of bawdy behaviour. It was all slapstick, all a bit of fun and all part of what I consider to be the best panto in the country.”
Humpty Dumpty runs from December 10 to January 30. Details on 01904 623568.
