WITH reference to Liz Lee (Letters, November 21), congratulations to Simon Doyle and Ms Lee for raising the alarm about the plan to sell off our precious Tye.

At the November Telscombe Town Council meeting, the council did a remarkable U-turn when faced with a council chamber packed with concerned residents.

It appears the influx of Conservatives on to Telscombe Town Council has been of no benefit to the people.

There is concern that Peacehaven town councillors have taken up seats on Telscombe Town Council.

Have these Peacehaven councillors really got the interests of Telscombe residents at heart?

There seems to have been some remarkably muddled thinking about the Tye and the bunding. The removal of the bunding on the Tye went ahead in October after East Sussex County Council had said in July that there was an option, after all, for the bunding to remain.

Yet we hear Telscombe councillors did not want the bunding removed.

So why was it removed if it didn’t have to go?

Surely the section adjacent to the coast road could have been left to keep out unauthorised vehicles and fly-tippers.

What part did our two Conservative East Sussex county councillors play in all this? Or were they too busy to give their time to Telscombe?

Telscombe residents want councillors who will put Telscombe first and not second to Peacehaven.

Surely, the councillors must have realised this bunding by the coast road was a natural barrier against unwanted vehicles.

How long before this access problem is solved? Common sense seems in short supply. It is time to put people before politics.
