The wife of a man who died after a suspected heart attack at the wheel of his car has paid tribute to a “devoted husband”.
Dennis Hilton, 79, died whilst driving to the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath for a routine appointment on New Year’s Eve.
His Nissan Sunny saloon car hit a grass bank before clipping another car in North End, Ditchling, near Lewes, at around 10am.
His wife Joyce was a passenger in the car at the time of the crash.
She was checked over by paramedics but was not injured.
An ambulance, a doctor and the air ambulance were all called but Mr Hilton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mrs Hilton, who lives in Hollingdean, also thanked the emergency services for their help in treating her husband.
Anyone who saw the incident is asked to call Sussex Police’s road policing unit at Polegate on 0845 6070999.
Leave your tributes to Mr Hilton below.
