Brighton and Hove Albion players suffered racist taunts during the club’s FA Cup win.

Saturday's victory over Torquay United ended with an ugly confrontation between Albion substitutes and departing home fans.

Torquay staff apologised afterwards and told their Albion counterparts one man would be banned from the ground.

Officials at the Devon club said they were unable on the incident yesterday.

Albion managing director Ken Brown said an investigation had been launched into what had been said.

The Football Association could launch its own inquiry into the incident but officials could not be contacted yesterday.

Albion club photographer Paul Hazlewood said he heard racist taunts being directed at Albion's Liam Dickinson and Gavin Hoyte during the second half of the match at Torquay's Plainmoor ground.

Elliott Bennett said he and Craig Davies were the targets of further abuse as the Albion substitutes jogged around the pitch after the final whistle.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said no-one was arrested at the ground.
