A woman whose life support machine was turned off is making a miraculous recovery.
Nicola Bassett, 44, was read her last rites at Worthing Hospital and her family and friends said their last goodbyes.
The mother-of-three had been diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer called acute lymphocytic leukaemia in August and her condition had deteriorated rapidly.
Doctors said there was “no hope” as Nicola developed septicaemia while undergoing treatment.
Family and friends gathered at her bedside fearing the worst.
But when doctors turned Nicola's life support machine off on November 17 she defied all the odds and began to make a slow recovery.
Now Nicola, of Lancing, has returned home but she still has to make daily visits to Worthing Hospital for treatment.
