There’s no need for Helke Feldpausch’s puzzlement at my observation that creating “cycle trains” along Lewes Road is an odd idea, while the Brighton and Hove Bus Company continues to give its full backing to the Cycle to Work scheme (Letters, January 6).

The point of encouraging people to cycle more is to emphasise the benefit of having the freedom to travel when you want, rather than having to fit into a timetable. That’s all.
