I was surprised to read the article by Andy Chiles concerning a negative Ofsted report for Portslade Community College (The Argus, January 4). Parents reading the report would have found it to be most discouraging.
Just before Christmas several of us had the pleasure of attending an excellent performance of Fiddler On The Roof involving more than 40 students on stage and 30 backstage. The enthusiasm shown by these youngsters was quite remarkable and created a wonderful atmosphere.
During the evening we had the opportunity of speaking briefly to several of the teachers, including the new principal Stuart McLaughlin and were impressed by their optimistic confidence in the future for the school.
