I have spent the last couple of weeks going over my options. My painful foot has been making me wonder if I would even make the starting line of either marathon so I needed to figure out a plan of action.

1) Defer both marathons until next year (worst case scenario)

2) Drop out of Brighton mara and give myself an extra week to concentrate on London

3) Go and see the doctor and beg him for a cortisone injection (actually, this might be worst case)

I decided to see how I held up on my 14 mile run on Sunday and make a decision from there so off I went. It was a gloriously sunny day, if a little windy, but as long as I was concentrating on my form I was in no pain. Every now and then I felt a twinge but generally it was good. I ended up doing 13.75 miles because I noticed a sore spot developing in a spot where my half marathon blister had been but in the end I was very happy with the whole thing. When I got home I dunked my feet into a bucket of ice water for 20 mins to stop the sore spot developing into a blister and then ran a bath of very cold water to sit in. Since then there has been minimal swelling and no pain in my foot so it looks like the double is still do-able!

17 miles this weekend!

I also got my charity vest through from VICTA, which is a fantastic rainbow colour! If you would like to sponsor me, please do so here.
