Albion are trying to sign another temporary striker for Sunday's Championship relegation battle against Gillingham at Withdean.

Mark McCammon will make his second appearance for the cash-strapped Seagulls on a month's loan from Millwall and, with Leon Knight suspended, manager Mark McGhee wants to borrow again.

"I'm hopeful if I come up with the right one then the chairman would be able to support it," McGhee said.

"We are talking to people. There are one or two we quite fancy and we may be able to afford, so we'll speak to them again."

McGhee is likely to continue with a three-pronged attack after playing Knight, McCammon and Adam Virgo together in last Friday's unfortunate 1-0 home defeat by Stoke.

"Virgs and Mark McCammon will both be playing and, given Leon's absence, they will be playing up front," McGhee revealed.

"The decision we have got to make is whether we play only the two of them or whether we put in the likes of Harty (Gary Hart) to play the same way we played the other night, which was successful in terms of the system if not the result."

Meanwhile, McGhee today confirmed Dan Harding's place at leftback is under threat for the Gillingham match after mistakes which led to goals in the last two games against Millwall and Stoke.

He has rubbished a report linking Harding, 21 on Thursday, with a £750,000 move to Everton in the January transfer window and has expressed concerned that all the speculation over the England under 21 international's future is affecting his form.

"He admitted to me last week he felt things were playing on his mind a bit at Millwall," McGhee said. "The speculation surrounding him is leaving me in doubt, so Dan's exclusion is definitely an option."
