Brighton is in the top three destinations to take a flirty weekend break without your partner.

Almost a quarter of people in a relationship have been on a UK break without their partner in the past three years, with 35 per cent of them preferring to holiday with friends.

Most, 32 per cent, went to London, 20 per cent chose Blackpool and 18 per cent came to Brighton.

Men were twice as likely as women to flirt with someone on these single-sex breaks, a survey from Teletext Holidays found.

Eight per cent of those seen as "pseudo singles"saw their trip as an opportunity to test their "pulling" ability.

Wanting to relive their single days was given as an explanation by 16 per cent while 25 per cent craved a break from their other half and 52 per cent needed to escape their routine.

Half of those in a relationship admitted they danced with someone else, 29 per cent enjoyed a flirtation and nine per cent ended the evening with a kiss.

A further eight per cent exchanged numbers with their new acquaintance.

Thirty-nine per cent of women in relationships were happy to dance with a stranger while 30 per cent said their friends became pally with groups of lads.
