Wonderful news that the Brighton-Seaford service will be doubled to eight buses an hour (Letters, August 11).
This is the way to reward car restraint policies, bring further traffic reduction and see off crazy notions of Rottingdean and Newhaven bypasses and a Newhaven station car park.
Running buses where people want to go beats the empty park-and-ride buses for motorists only that serve car parks only, make losses and encourage driving. The transport case for a brownfield football stadium at Newhaven is advanced.
The next step should be to boost the 17, 40 and 273 routes, fill Brighton mainline trains against peak flows and add congestion charging on the A23 to cut traffic north of Brighton.
