Horsham picked up their third red card in two games as defender James Crofts was sent off on his debut as the Hornets beat Newport IOW 1-0 at Queen Street.
Crofts saw red on 83 minutes for retaliation after he had been fouled by Adam Barsdell.
Horsham only had themselves to blame for not burying Newport under an avalanche of goals in the first half, with Lee Carney hitting the bar in only the second minute and a whole host of chances going to waste.
The only goal came on 31 minutes when Gary Charman headed home.
