If that really is that for the West Pier, then let's look to the future (The Argus, July 30).

A modern pier fit for this century should be considered. But if that is out of the question, then the iconic structure that remains could be used as a sculptural attraction.

Computerised images of the historic West Pier using laser technology may, perhaps, turn what at present is a wreck into a tourist attraction.

The outline of the pier is attractive, particularly when the evening sun shines through the metal construction.

With imagination, the Grand Old Lady could still portray what she previously looked like.
