The blatant opportunism of Brighton Kemptown MP Des Turner takes the biscuit. Speaking about Southern Water's plans to deal with Brighton and Hove's sewage at Lower Hoddern Farm, he claimed that other sites in Newhaven and Shoreham would be better - despite being further away.

And what do these other places have in common? Why, of course, they are not in Brighton.

When will Labour politicians in Brighton grow up and take responsibility for the less attractive aspects of city life?

Newhaven is already earmarked by them and East Sussex County Council for an incinerator. This would mainly deal with waste from Brighton and Hove.

Residents and businesses in both Newhaven and Shoreham should unite against this anti-social behaviour by their neighbour and say to the city: "It's your waste, you find sites to deal with it."
