Adam Trimingham, reporter and columnist for The Argus, has been honoured by Brighton and Hove Buses.
He is one of the few living people whose names have been put on the front of a bus to mark their contribution to the life of the city.
Adam retires on his 62nd birthday next Monday after 30 years working for The Argus and 44 as a reporter.
He said: "After writing many words about people whose names are on buses, it was a huge surprise to find my own name there.
"I may look like the back of a bus but now I'm on the front of one."
The bus will probably operate mainly on the 27 route and Adam's name will remain on it for a year.
