I was enjoying The Argus of June 10 when I was drawn to a picture which I thought was an advertisement for ice cream cornets.
On reading the text I realised my error. The King Alfred Tin Cans were again rearing their ugly, lofty and unsightly heads.
Wonders will never cease. It would seem that the construction, for which a planning application has yet to be submitted is to be used as a training course for potential builders.
If this was a comedy show it could not have a better script but the possible construction is a serious issue and raises the question, at least in my mind, is there already some hidden agreement within the council to approve an application?
The Argus says there is "alarm among some residents". I think a more appropriate word would have been "most".
Heather James, a councillor who was rejected at the last election but quickly found a job with Karis, gives the impression that the council already has made a decision and is entering into commitments. I hope I am wrong.
The probable rejection by the surely inevitable public inquiry could be very costly to taxpayers.
Perhaps the council thinks John Prescott, if he is still around then, likes ice cream cornets as well as Jags.
