The proposed tower block at Brighton Marina (Letters, June 5) could become a major landmark of our resort and a new enterprise interest along the south coast.
The position is perfect. By making the structure resemble an off-shore light house with a searchlight beaming from the top at dusk, Brighton and Hove would gain a bold marketing tool to highlight a millennium statement of City initiative. Rather than just another bland residential column, please let us have an imaginative seaside housing venture.
Since we are a coastal resort, a lighthouse-themed project, providing a new commercial profile, could feasibly boost a wide spread of trade.
Of course, skaters would welcome a lighthouse. It could light-up-the-skies of the area in a jubilant celebration of a new Olympic ice arena complex, which Keep Sussex Skating is backing to become an ice sports and leisure success for the city at Brighton Black Rock.
