With regard to the decision to only cut the cliff-top grass at Peacehaven twice a year (The Argus, June 3), there may be Sea Lavender and Sea Heath at the western end of this cliff-top but, here in the east, we have only Spear Grass and thistles that are now knee-high.

It is a great recreational area for local people and visitors from the nearby caravan site. The Spear Grass has spread because of the practice of cutting it in full seed and leaving the spears to lie uncollected when they take root and grow. It will now spread even further.

The difficulty in picking up dog waste is a good point. Soon we won't be able to walk from the Promenade across to the narrow path by the wire where the dog bins are situated.

We are not suggesting rare wild flowers should be mown but there aren't any here and they won't take root among Spear Grass.

Please can we have our cliff-top walk back? A resident told us there had been an attempt to spray and kill the wallflowers which grow the other side of the wire.

These are a picture in the spring and the air is filled with their perfume. We know they are not wild flowers but the mallow which grew there before still grows and people come back every year to see this beautiful sight.

Can we be reassured weed killer is not being used?
