"Police Raid Brothel" (The Argus, June 8) shows just how out of touch our boys in blue are.

When drunkenness, street violence, street drinking, anti-social behaviour, burglary, assault on pensioners - crimes that really shock - occur, we are told: "Sorry, no officers available, staff shortages".

But when it comes to helping BT, watch our bobbies go into action. On that Saturday, four officers had time to clean up 30 kiosks, stake out another, then raid homes and collect more cards. But what about crimes that occurred on that Saturday?

If the cards in BT's boxes offend parents and children, why, if the parent sees something lewd, can't they keep the child out? Besides, The Sun, News of the World, Sport On Sunday and magazines on sale at newsagents in full view of everyone make these cards look like fairy stories.

Do words such as "Busty Swede offers massage" or "hot sexy big girl is now in town" or, as your picture shows, "Foxy Ladies - they're red hot" cause much shock? In personal services in The Argus, the massage column shows similar messages.
