What a knockout bit of writing on Caesareans by Louise Ramsay (The Argus, May 24).

There is something very odd and sad about the type of professional earth mother who expends such a lot of time and energy castigating women who have the "cheek" not to embrace pain and suffering as a woman's lot.

Maybe instead of questioning why women want epidurals and the like, they should ask why they desire to be torn apart and risk horrible sex lives afterwards; half of them just want a good excuse not to sleep with their husbands if you ask me.

But that's just me being nasty - Louise's sensible and reasoned argument was much better.

I think the real proof is that three quarters of female doctors choose Caesareans for themselves. Are we to believe that these women are posh, cowardly or lazy? Doctors? Hardly!

They've simply seen the screaming and the agony that takes place on maternity wards and quite logically decided to give it a wide berth.

Ooo, a pun.
