There is a 4.6 per cent rise in bus journeys (The Argus, May 6), but can the Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company explain the increase to £2.60 for a one-day bus saver bought from the driver?

Nottingham City Transport has 300 buses and fares are 60p, 90p £1.10. A one-day easy rider, costs £2.20, one week costs £10. Travel West Midlands operate 80 per cent of bus services in Brimingham and other West Midland towns and fares cost 70p, £1 and £1.30, the latter reduced to £1 off-peak. A one day saver costs £2.70 and £12.20 a week.
